Jan 9th - another Brown Hairstreak egg was found today, this time at Croughton Quarry. This is a mile north of the previous finds and shows that the species is making significant steps into the county.

Jan 1st - the 1st butterfly of 2024 was recorded today when a Red Admiral was observed flying in a garden in Great Oakley

The 1st Clouded Yellow of the year was also recorded today in the grounds of Kettering General Hospital.

In Salcey Forest 39 Black Hairstreaks along the ride south of the Horsebox car park and 15 Black Hairstreaks along the Blackthorn hedge in the motorway meadow, 2 Wood White and 1 White Admiral were also recorded.

June 18th – The 1st Dark Green Fritillary of the year was recorded today on the private Bulwick Estate.

The 1st Silver-washed Fritillary was also recorded today at Ring Haw Nature Reserve.
