The Beds and Northants Local Branch of Butterfly Conservation Needs You!
As you may have noticed, this year saw several personnel leave the branch committee after providing excellent service for many years. Unfortunately, this leaves the branch in a bit of a predicament, as there is now only a very small handful of people left on the committee. For the branch to continue, and hopefully grow, we will need some more volunteers to join the committee, so please consider joining if you can. You don’t need to know a lot about butterflies, and you can give as much time, or as little, as you like.
We are keen to recruit people from across both counties in a variety of roles, but we are particularly looking for people who would be willing to take on the role of Chairperson, and we also need a branch secretary. We would also like to hear from anyone who would be interested in a conservation role to help advise land managers with conservation advice, and anyone interested in leading walks across both counties. We meet online a few times a year to discuss matters, and we arrange walks for our members, as well as our popular Members Day event with the annual photo competition.
If you feel you can help, please let me know by contacting me using the contact form on this website.
Sadly, until we can recruit more people, the sorts of things the branch used to deliver, such as regular walks, newsletters, conservation advice and the annual members' days, etc, will be quite limited going forward.
Best wishes,
David James (Northamptonshire County Recorder for Butterflies)
Chris Walpole (Membership Secretary)
